Maximus – needs experienced foster or furever home
This beautiful boy is Maximus – he is just 4 years old, and a really fabulous dog and all he wants is to be loved – he has not had a great past and due to a relationship breakdown was forced to live outside without much interaction so he will need a loving home who understands his needs and can be around for him a lot.
He is used to living with another dog and recently his very best mate in kennels found his furever home. This hit Maximus badly and he started to pine and lose weight and confidence. For this reason we think a home with a resident dog, maybe older and stable, would be preferable for Maximus.
We thought we had found him a perfect home with a lovely family, another dog for company and children who he loved on their visits.
But being in a home again triggered some awful memory from his past and he became anxious and fretful, unable to settle, waking with a start, defensive and pacing, panting and very distressed. As much as the family wanted to work through this with him, with two small children this wasn’t possible.
We are fortunate to have a superb behaviourist working with us and she found him a live in temporary placement with a therapist/behaviourist working with zoopharmacognosy (google it, its fascinating!) and he’s thriving, calm, comfortable, sleeping like a log. His time there is coming to an end after Christmas, so we are anxious to find him a home, foster or furever, in Shropshire and surrounds, before then, as we are worried taking him back to kennels will set all his progress back.
He is neutered, vaccinated and waiting. Please complete the enquiry form if you have an amazing home to offer to this amazing boy. Maximus is a great all rounder who will tick a lot of boxes if you are looking for a friendly and loving dog but he’ll need an experienced hand and a calm environment, and a lot of patience to see him through the transition from a safe kennel into a home environment. It won’t be easy and only really committed people should apply.
Our behaviourist will be available to help and advise (paid for by FFH). Maximus is at his happiest with another dog but it needs to be a small child and cat free home.
Could it be you?
If you are willing to offer him a foster home, we will need to be assured you will give him a home until his furever home is found however long that takes. He has been through enough in his short life.
